Sheriff Ottis Whitfield “Blackie” Morrow
Ottis Whitfield “Blackie” Morrow was born March 21, 1902 in Alabama and was killed in the line of duty on March 12, 1950 in Presidio County, Texas.
Sheriff Morrow had been with the Presidio County Sheriff’s Department for three years at the time of his death.
Sheriff Ottis Morrow was shot and killed while giving a Mexican National a ride eleven miles north of Presidio. The suspect attacked the sheriff when the sheriff found out he was a ‘bracero’ and threatened to turn him over to INS. The suspect then fled to Mexico, where he was arrested and tried in a Mexican court.
Sheriff Morrow was a United States WWIl Veteran and served with the Presidio County Sheriff’s Department for three years. He was survived by his wife, son, and two stepsons.
